A GERMAN METAL ONSLAUGHT WITH UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER THIS WEEKEND

UDO'In 1971 Udo was instrumental in forming the legendary band Accept. After hitting their peak with Balls to the Wall Udo left the band in 1987. He immediately started a new band with his own namesake simply called U.D.O. This year marks the 25th anniversary of U.D.O. and they are celebrating by touring the world (they just wrapped up in the states,) and reissuing ever album. Plus a brand new album called Steamhammer will be out the end of May. We welcome Udo Dirkschneider to the Hangar.

This week’s In the Vault comes from Fear Factory. More specifically an appearance by Fear Factory on Canada’s Much Music in 1995.

maiden 88Our Power Set comes from Iron Maiden’s newly released double disc live album Maiden ’88. A remastering of their tour of Europe in 1988 for Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

black-sabbath-god-is-deadBy this point maybe you’ve heard the new Black Sabbath song “God is Dead?” but have you heard it after one of their classics? This week’s Then & Now is from Sabbath’s first album with Ozzy since 1978′s Never Say Die!

Finally our heavy metal soundtrack recommendation comes from the movie soundtrack that is really responsible for the Metallica song that shut down Napster and cause that big legal stir in the early 2000′s. It’s Mission Impossible 2.

Join us for 3 hours of classic metal inside Hangar 19.

TIME TO PAY OUR RESPECTS TO MIKE SCACCIA

This weekend inside Hangar 19 we are honoring the fallen Ministry and Rigor Mortis guitarist. Mike was 47 years old and passed away after a heart attack while playing on stage with Rigor Mortis. Last spring Mike joined us inside the Hangar to discuss the lastest Ministry album, his country side project, and balancing the thrash of Rigor Mortis and the industrial of Ministry. R.i.p. Mike Scaccia.

In honor of how influential Mike and his bandmate Al Jourgensen have been in the world of industrial metal, we’ll lay down a Power Set of songs from industrial number one albums. Featuring Nine Inch Nails, Fear Factory, Stabbing Westward and Static-X.

Our movie and soundtrack recommendation this week is one of the best…The Crow

This week’s Then and now is from Ministry and a past side project called 1000 Homo Dj’s.

We will go in The Vault with our old friend Oderus Urungus from GWAR, and one of his many apparences on Fox News.

It’s 3 more hours of classic metal this weekend inside Hangar 19.

VIDEO: FEAR FACTORY PREMIERE NEW VIDEO FOR “THE INDUSTRIALIST”

There are now some new visuals to go along with the latest album from Fear Factory. The band just released a video for the title track from The Industrialist, which you can watch below.

Running seven minutes in length, the new video mixes performance footage with images that mirror the album artwork concept.

We spoke with Burton C. Bell about the new album earlier this year and also discussed numerous highlights from the band’s career, including some choice Ozzfest memories. Check out that interview here.

Fear Factory will launch a European tour with Devin Townsend this weekend.

SHOCKWAVE TOUR FEATURING FEAR FACTORY AND VOIVOD HAS BEEN CANCELED

Metalheads all over the United States were looking forward to the inaugural run of the Shockwave tour, which was scheduled to launch tomorrow (Friday, July 6th).

Unfortunately, the tour has now been cancelled at the 11th hour, leaving Fear Factory and the other bands set to be featured on the run in search of new summer touring plans.

Fear Factory issued the following statement:

“We are truly disappointed not to be part of the Shockwave tour. We send our sincerest apologies to all our North American fans planning to come out this summer, but we will be back. Please look for Fear Factory headlining dates in August.”

Apparently, low ticket sales for the trek were among the factors which ultimately led to the tour cancellation. Other bands on the tour included Voivod, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, Havok, Last Chance To Reason and The Browning.

Prior to the tour cancellation, Voivod pulled out and tour organizers decided to shelve it.

“It is with great disappointment that we have to make this announcement. With the recent departure of Voivod from the Shockwave Festival lineup, as well as low advance ticket sales, we have decided to pull the plug on the Shockwave Festival. For purchases made with a credit card, your card will automatically be refunded. All other refunds are available at point of purchase. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.”

We’ll look forward to future tour details from Fear Factory, who will be touring in support of their recent release The Individualist. We recently had the chance to speak with frontman Burton C. Bell about the album and you can listen to that entire interview here.

INTERVIEW: BURTON C. BELL OF FEAR FACTORY

Fear Factory vocalist Burton C. Bell drops in on Hangar 19 to talk about the new Fear Factory album The Industrialist.

Our conversation covered a lot of ground, including the new album itself. It seems natural that there could be a movie waiting to happen within the album’s storyline…..but what does Burton think about that?

Burton also recalls a memorable touring experience playing OzzFest with Pantera and Marilyn Manson. Sometimes, it’s a sight for sore eyes…and sometimes, there are some things that just make your eyes sore!

Bell is notably the only member of Fear Factory who has been on every Fear Factory album, so we took that as an opportunity to really dissect the history of the band with Burton.
