INTERVIEW: ROCK USA (MOTLEY CRUE, PAPA ROACH, DROWNING POOL)

On July 12 and 13th I went to a music festival in Wisconsin called Rock USA. Saw a ton of great bands and hung out back stage with these rock stars

Jerry Horton of Papa Roach. Say what you want about Papa Roach but Jerry is a metal head through and through, and this band is one the best live bands out there right now. They’ve gone through a few facelifts since they started in 1996 but for the last decade they have been kicking ass on stage. Jerry discusses their new music, their stage performance and he help’s decide who the more metal superhero is.

CJ Pierce of Drowning Pool: The story of their original lead singer Dave Williams is one of the more tragic ones in hard rock and heavy metal. Their debut Sinner was blowing up all over the world when Dave passed away due to heart complications while on tour. Since then they have had three different singers. Their latest was just announced and may be the best since Dave.

Nikki Sixx: The man needs no introduction. He is the ultimate rock star as the bassist and songwriter for Motley Crue, Sixx A.M., he’s a radio DJ with his own night show called The Sixx Sense, he’s an author, and a husband and father. Nikki talks about sobriety, their new song Sexx and why it’s still cool to go on tour with Kiss

THIS WEEKEND ON HANGAR 19

A very special show is on tap for you this weekend. A couple of weeks ago Cutter went to a rock music festival called Rock USA and he snuck backstage to hang out with Drowning Pool, Papa Roach and the one and only Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue. Here all three this weekend plus we will pay tribute to fallen legend Jon Lord, with a Deep Purple powerset. Also Jerry Horton of Papa Roach helps us figure out who the more metal superhero is, Iron Man or Thor as we look at The Avengers Assemble soundtrack in this weeks heavy metal movie recommendation. We’ll get on a taste of new stuff with a Then and Now from Vision of Disorder and we go in the vault with Drowning Pool and celebrate their original lead singer, the now deceased Dave Williams. All this during your three hour heavy metal history lesson on Hangar 19.
