23 – Judas Priest: You’ve Got Another Thing Coming
At 61 years old there is no question that Rudy Sarzo is still kicking ass and taking names. When it comes to hard rock and heavy metal bass players there may be no one that has done more. He was a member of Quiet Riot in the beginning, during their heyday in the 80′s and for the renion in the late 90′s. He also was a member of Ozzy’s Blizzard of Ozz line-up. He played with Whitesnake at the height of their popularity. Then he played with Dio and most recently was a member of Blue Oyster Cult. He now has 2 bands that he’s formed on his own; Tred and Animetal USA.
Check out Cutter’s conversation with a true metal legend.
This weekend, we welcome bassist Rudy Sarzo to Hangar 19. Rudy has an amazing past playing with Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Ronnie James Dio and of course, Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads.
We’ll talk to Rudy about all of those things, including the new Speak of the Devil DVD release that captures a classic live Ozzy performance from the summer of 1982.
We’ll also dig into what Rudy’s up to these days and find out what the deal is with his latest project Animetal USA.
The metal movie theater delivers an awesome flick this weekend which featured Iggy Pop in a unique role. Our Power Set this weekend throws down hard with a set of Faith No More songs, plus we’ll do a Then and Now from the almighty Testament. We’ll head into the vault with Mike Muir of Suicidal Tendencies and share a ton of classic metal to make mullets proud everywhere. Don’t miss it!
Hangar 19 relives the glory days of classic metal and features music from the artists who built this explosive genre, including Megadeth, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Metallica, Anthrax, Korn, Slayer and Marilyn Manson.
Host Cutter, a 15 year rock radio veteran, stops down from the nostalgia just long enough to highlight new metal in a weekly “Then and Now” segment and to interview the metal greats that helped mold the speaker-shredding musical movement.
